Make sure your story is compelling enough that they want to be part of your production.

You also need to have some degree of funding in place for practical reasons, but that can be as little as development funds to get things moving, but be realistic and expect that the talent you’re seeking may not be willing to attach to your project without funding ready to go. While things like this can happen, it’s extremely rare, and money in hand is always more meaningful than promises.
